A tea meditation ritual with warm candlelight and steam rising from a clay teapot

Tea as meditation

A sublime tea ritual for exceptional spaces

Mindful Tea House is an invitation to slow down in a hectic world. Through silent mindful tea ritual, guests can find clarity, calm, and a gentle lift of spirit.

THE PRACTICE

Tea as a serene meditation ritual

In today's increasingly fast-paced world, guests often arrive feeling scattered, but leave with a sense of stillness that stays with them.

Every movement, from warming the pot, to washing the tea and waking up the aroma, to measuring the leaves and tasting the delightful tea notes,  becomes a meditation in itself for server and guests.

The practice slows the mind. As our senses become absorbed in the moment, we might well find that the gentle steam brings clarity and a sense of being uplifted.

The leaves

Exceptional teas, served in beautiful teaware

We source and serve high-quality puerh, oolong, white and other carefully considered tea. These rare leaves are chosen for their wonderful notes, depth of flavour and respected origins. Each is served in beautiful teaware, sometimes with small sweet or savoury accompaniments, paired by the host or your own chef.

Puerh

Aged, earthy, and grounding. Puerh invites the body to settle and the breath to deepen.

Oolong

Complex and floral. Oolong is perfect for awakening attention.

White Tea

Delicate and luminous. White tea can bring a soft, clear quality to the mind.

THE SCIENCE OF TEA

Why tea creates a long exhale

High quality tea is uniquely calming. This is because it contains higher levels of the amino acid L-theanine.

Found in the tea plant Camellia sinensis, L-theanine relaxes the nervous system and creates a state of calm alertness through a process of increasing the brain's alpha waves.

These are the same brainwaves generated during deep meditation.

Combining exceptional high quality teas with meditation, pause and stillness often results in feelings of wellness.

Silence gives a space to reflect and feel peaceful while observing and partaking in an ancient ritual, steeped in steam and wonder.

Your host

A well-practised creator of mindful experiences

Claudia, your host, has more than a decade of experience leading and hosting mindfulness sessions at some of the UK's most exclusive organisations. This includes three years as meditation coach at the UK's No 1. School of the Decade, Brighton College, ongoing staff wellbeing sessions for Kew Gardens Wakehurst, as well as for the NHS and a social enterprise network of 300 care homes.

From 2019 -2020, Claudia spent an 8-month period living in a tea house, where she learned the mindful art of drinking, appreciating and serving exclusive teas. Here she experienced a sense of deep inner calm and the ability to more easily be with life's difficulties.

Claudia is now pleased to offer mindful tea rituals in exceptional spaces, in addition to ocassional public tea meditation events.

For hotels & spaces

A quiet offering for your guests

The ritual, sometimes known as a tea ceremony, can be hosted in a dedicated lounge, a spa suite, private members' club or a garden room. It brings presence to your space and gives guests an experience they will remember and talk about.

Intimate groups

Ideal for hotel lounges, private suites, wellness retreats, and exclusive events. Sessions are kept to a maximum of 6 people, so each guest receives attention.

Flexible duration

From a 45-minute arrival ritual to a full two-hour tea journey paired with sweet or savoury delights. The format adapts to the space and the moment.

Lasting calm

Guests leave not only with the taste of fine tea, but likely with a quieter nervous system and a clearer mind.

Ethics & charity

Sourced with care, shared with others

Every part of the ritual, from leaf to plate, is chosen thoughtfully — including working with companies such as Miss Macaroon, a social enterprise offering work to long-term unemployed young people.

Tea source

Mindful Tea House works hard to source teas from ethical growers, and we share our knowledge of the provenance of each tea during sessions.

Mindful accompaniments

Sweet and savoury accompaniments are chosen with the same care, ideally from social enterprises or small independent businesses.

A session given back

For every booking you make, we offer a free tea session for women in recovery from alcohol dependency.

London & the South East

A private tea ceremony in London

Hosted in your hotel, spa, private members' club or private space — a quiet, memorable Gongfu Cha tea ceremony for up to six guests, paired with beautiful, delicate confection. Perfect before meetings to invoke calm and creativity, as well as staff wellbeing sessions and exclusive events across London and the South East.
